Continued Imprisonment Of Former Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim

EDM number 1101 in 2001-02, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 10/04/2002.

That this House expresses its concern at the continued imprisonment of the former Malaysian Deputy Minister Anwar Ibrahim; notes that previous trials were deemed not to have met international standards of fairness; hopes that he will ultimately have a fair trial on the charges which have been brought against him; and calls on the Government of Malaysia to ensure that Mr Ibrahim is able to exercise, without restriction, his right to seek medical treatment of his choice in accordance with the recommendations of his medical advisers.

This motion has been signed by a total of 42 MPs.
