Investment In Cardiff Bay
EDM number 1074 in 2001-02, proposed by Llew Smith on 25/03/2002.
That this House notes that with the advent of the National Assembly for Wales, the electorate were promised new politics; further notes that this new politics has resulted in the National Assembly wasting millions of pounds of public money on projects in one of the richest areas of Wales, Cardiff Bay, while poorer areas continue to experience shortages of investment; further notes that the Assembly has taken another decision to waste up to ú23million of public money in Cardiff Bay on Urban Light Transport System, which initially travels between the Assembly, Bute Street Station and the council offices in the Bay; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Wales to discuss this project with the First Secretary of the National Assembly for Wales, with the view to cancelling the project and transferring the money saved to the areas in greatest need throughout Wales.
