Letters Of Comfort For The Public Private Partnership For The London Underground
EDM number 1063 in 2001-02, proposed by Gwyneth Dunwoody on 25/03/2002.
That this House disapproves of the Minute from the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions, dated 20th March, concerning letters of comfort in respect of the Public Private Partnership contracts for the London Underground; believes that the arguments against proceeding with the Public Private Partnership have not been answered satisfactorily by the Government; considers the Government's unwarranted rush to sign the contracts without Parliamentary consideration to be indicative of its desire to conclude these contracts at any cost, regardless of well-founded arguments to the contrary; and further considers it unacceptable for the Government to proceed further with the Public Private Partnership for the London Underground before Parliament has had an opportunity to debate and vote on a substantive motion on whether to proceed with it.
This motion has been signed by a total of 32 MPs.
