Future Of European Union

That this House notes with concern the vision of the future of the European Union set out last week, including proposals for a European government, more powers for the European Commission and tax harmonisation; further notes that euro membership is cited as the reason for deeper integration; and believes that no decision to join the euro should be made until the future direction and constitution of the European Union is settled at the next Intergovernmental Conference in 2004.
