"subtitles@yourlocalcinema" Campaign
EDM number 642 in 2000-01, proposed by Tom Brake on 08/05/2001.
That this House commends the "subtitles@yourlocalcinema" campaign started by nine year old Dean Rhodes-Brandon to promote better access to cinemas for the disabled; regrets that most British cinemas do not have suitable facilities for the deaf and blind; notes that there are over seven million deaf and hard of hearing people in the United Kingdom; and urges British cinemas to respond to the campaign by investing insuitable equipment to make the film-going experience open to everyone.
