Hague Climate Change Conference
EDM number 64 in 2000-01, proposed by Don Foster on 08/12/2000.
That this House expresses its disappointment at the failure of political leaders at the Hague Climate Change Conference to reach agreement on making the Kyoto Protocol operational; welcomes the efforts made by the representatives of the British Government to encourage measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; regrets that the inflexible approach of some nations, notably the USA, meant that a deal could not be reached; and urges the UK and other governments to reconvene at the earliest opportunity to complete a compact that leads to effective action to control emissions and protect the planet from the impact of global warming.
This motion has been signed by a total of 43 MPs.
