Electricity Supply Pensioners

EDM number 555 in 2000-01, proposed by Jonathan Shaw on 05/04/2001.

That this House notes the ruling of the Law Lords that National Power and National Grid acted lawfully in using ú330 million from pension fund surpluses to pay for redundancies; believes that the Electricity Supply Pensioners Group was right in principle to argue that surplus belong to pensioners; calls on the Government to implement the recommendations which it has accepted of the Myners Report that the Law Commission should review pension surpluses as soon as possible; and further congratulates Mr Dave Laws and Mr Reg Mayes for their endeavours in their campaign to seek justice for the 200,000 members of the Electricity Supply Pensioners Group.

This motion has been signed by a total of 39 MPs.
