Gm Crop Trials In Wales
EDM number 548 in 2000-01, proposed by Simon Thomas on 04/04/2001.
That this House deprecates the unilateral decision of the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions to approve three GM crop field trials in Wales; notes that their decision was made without any consultation with the National Assembly or honourable Members and Right honourable Members representing Welsh constituencies in this House; acknowledges that the National Assembly has sought to declare a GM moratorium in Wales; believes that this decision by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions is an affront to democracy and shows contempt for the principles of devolution approved by this House in the Wales Act 1998; and calls upon the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions to rescind this decision to allow full and proper consultation to take place.
This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
