Thames Water And Raw Sewage
EDM number 505 in 2000-01, proposed by Kerry Pollard on 29/03/2001.
That this House deplores the failure of Thames Water to help residents of Hertfordshire who suffer from repeated incursions of raw sewage during periods of heavy rain; further deplores the failure of Mr Gordon Maxwell, Managing Director of Thames Water, to give an adequate response to the complaints of Mr Khalil Moghul and others, who have been writing to him since 1994, or to the letters and telephone calls made by Mr Moghul's Member of Parliament in an attempt to resolve the matter; and calls on the Government to strengthen the regulatory framework which applies to water companies, to compel them to take steps to ensure that persistent encroachment of raw sewage onto customers' properties does not continue.
