10th Anniversary Of Abolition Of The Poll Tax
EDM number 475 in 2000-01, proposed by Anne Begg on 21/03/2001.
That this House notes that the poll tax, which brought such misery to so many, was finally ended 10 years ago today, 21st March; celebrate the anniversary of its demise; but warns that many of the architects of the tax are now in the Shadow Cabinet and are prospective parliamentary candidates and that the Chairman of the Scottish Tory Party was also an architect of the tax, and that they represent a threat to the progress that has been made over the past four years.
This motion has been signed by a total of 50 MPs.
