Flood Defences
EDM number 463 in 2000-01, proposed by Chris McCafferty on 20/03/2001.
That this House commends the BBC for the Panorama programme on flood defence in the Yorkshire region; recognises the horror and disruption flooding has caused local people; deplores the fact that Government money given to local authorities for the specific purpose of combating flood damage has in some cases been diverted to fund other services; believes that new build should not take place in flood risk areas without full public consultation; and call upon the Government to provide sufficient long-term funding for flood defence.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
