That this House condemns Severn Trent Water for their change of mind in refusing to fund a replacement sewage treatment works for residents in the village of Wroxeter, near Shrewsbury, congratulates the local parish council, Councillor Claire Wild, and Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council for their determination to find a solution to a delapidated treatment works that is costing local residents a small fortune to maintain; notes the Environment Agency has not objected to a ú46,000 scheme that Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough, as owners has proposed, but expresses amazement that Severn Trent Water have insisted they would only adopt future responsibility for the sewage treatment of waste if a ú190,000 scheme is built; believes Severn Trent Water are not interested in accepting a public duty to serve rural communities with basic services; remembers that Severn Trent Water made ú98 million in profits last year; and urges Severn Trent Water to agree to fund a new sewage treatment scheme for Wroxeter village.
