Solotec, Carole Hackett And The Prime Minister
EDM number 436 in 2000-01, proposed by Peter Bottomley on 13/03/2001.
That this House, being concerned at the Private Eye report, of 9th March 'So Long SOLTEC' that Carole Hackett, having lost her new job, spent ú12,000 in legal fees and still has no legal representation, is still facing an extensive and expensive legal action; invites the TEC's Chief Executive John Saunders to re-examine the legal, moral and commercial considerations before continuing this action; asks the Prime Minister to nominate a Secretary of State to review the claim that the TEC is obligated to government funding and so has to pursue Carole Hackett; and asks those involved at all levels to resolve the issues before SOLOTEC ceases to exist at the end of this month.
