That this House notes the Guardian Media article by Roy Greenslade, of Monday 12th March 2001, 'When the law is an ass'; and regrets the proceedings against Simon Bradshaw of the Brighton Evening Argus and David Briffett of the West Sussex County Times relating to publishing articles said to have contravened section 39 of the 1937 Children and Young Persons Act; recognises the responsibility of the Press within the law to make available to all what is known to the few; and calls on Parliament to revise the law to allow responsible editors to publish anonymised information about alleged juvenile offenders.
