Family Heart Disease Study
EDM number 396 in 2000-01, proposed by Evan Harris on 05/03/2001.
That this House welcomes the British Heart Foundation's new study into family heart disease; notes that one in two patients with heart disease will have another family member affected; further notes that this study aims to pinpoint the genes which contribute to coronary heart disease; recognises that isolating these susceptibility genes will assist doctors in the future to prevent and treat heart disease; recognises that coronary heart disease is the single biggest killer in the UK; and calls on honorable Members to encourage their constituents to participate in the study.
