Iron Trades Holdings
EDM number 355 in 2000-01, proposed by Michael Clapham on 14/02/2001.
That this House is extremely concerned about the circumstances in which Chester Street Insurance Holdings, formerly Iron Trades Holdings Ltd., was put into voluntary insolvency; notes that although the liquidator is working to ensure a system is in place to assist people with compensation claims many including some who are terminally ill could be left without much of the money they so badly need to have some degree of comfort in the last few days of their lives; and calls for a public inquiry to look into the capping of pre-1990 liabilities in a company that has insufficient assets.
This motion has been signed by a total of 50 MPs.
