Science And The General Election

That this House recognises the vital role that science and engineering play in the United Kingdom and applauds the initiative taken by scientific and engineering organisations led by the Royal Society of Chemistry in promoting Science and the General Election in the Houses of Parliament on 14th February; notes that this event is supported by the Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Science Council, the Engineering Council, the Institute of Physics, the Institute of Biology and Save British Science, as well as many other organisations; notes that the event seeks to highlight the enormous contribution that science and engineering make to vital areas of national life; notes the Charter for Science and Engineering which highlights some of the important issues with which the next Parliament and the next Government will have to deal; and hopes that these issues are widely discussed and publicly debated in the period leading up to the next general election.
