Student Community Action Network

EDM number 262 in 2000-01, proposed by Stephen Twigg on 29/01/2001.

That this House recognises the work done by the Student Community Action network, consisting of over 25,000 volunteers helping over 90,000 people every year; notes that the Student Community Action network is one of the largest youth volunteering networks in the United Kingdom, preparing and developing young people for active citizenship; calls for official recognition of this dynamic network of young people who regularly give up their time and energy for the disadvantaged and marginalised in their local community; welcomes the recent Government funding announcement to encourage student volunteering; and applauds Student Community Action Week, 19th to 25th February, in celebrating student volunteers and their achievements.

This motion has been signed by a total of 79 MPs.
