Pigeons In Trafalgar Square

EDM number 230 in 2000-01, proposed by Tony Banks on 22/01/2001.

That this House congratulates Mr Bernard Raynor for yet again securing a stay of execution on his selling of pigeon corn in Trafalgar Square; notes that Mr Raynor's family have been working in the square for five decades and that the gentle feral pigeons have come to rely on this food source; calls upon the Mayor to take up the offer made by the Pigeon Control Advisory Service last August to assist him in reducing pigeon numbers through humane methods rather than starving them to death, an offer the Mayor has not yet deemed fit to take up; reminds the Mayor he has no mandate to remove the pigeons; and suggests that he seeks a compromise acceptable to animal welfare organisations and Londoners who are angry and upset by his high-handed and arrogant attitude.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs, 8 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
