Beta Interferon And Glatiramer Acetate
EDM number 126 in 2000-01, proposed by Paul Burstow on 19/12/2000.
That this House notes mounting evidence that disease-modifying drugs (beta interferons and glatiramer acetate) bring long-term benefits to people with MS; recognises the benefits these drugs bring in terms of improved health and maintaining independence; believes any cost-effectiveness assessment of these drugs must take full account of their effect on the lives of individuals and of the total costs of supporting a person disabled by MS; and calls upon the Government to make these drugs available through the National Health Service on the recommendation of a neurologist.
