Family Visitor Appeals
EDM number 116 in 2000-01, proposed by Robert Marshall-Andrews on 14/12/2000.
That this House welcomes the restoration, under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, of the right of appeal against a refusal of a visa to visit family members in the United Kingdom; notes with concern the small number of such appeals lodged to date; believes that this reflects the fact that many unjustly refused family visit applicants are deterred from exercising their right to appeal by the charging of substantial fees to appellants; and urges the Government to dispense with such fee-charging in relation to these appeals.
