Safe Transfer Of Dangerous Liquids And Gases
EDM number 992 in 1999-00, proposed by Michael Clapham on 18/07/2000.
That this House notes with alarm recent incidents involving property damage and injury to the public and workers resulting from hose failures when dangerous liquids and gases are being transferred from tankers, and is aware that technology is now available to prevent the leakage of dangerous material from occurring if a hose pulls apart or a coupling breaks; and calls on the Government thoroughly to review existing regulations to ensure that the transportation of dangerous materials is undertaken using the best available flexible hose technology to ensure public protection.
