Housing In North West England

EDM number 96 in 1999-00, proposed by Hilton Dawson on 25/11/1999.

That this House supports the conclusion of the Environment, Transport and Regional Affairs Committee's seventeenth report on housing that the North West could achieve a target of building almost 100 per cent. of new homes on brownfield land; believes that it would be to the benefit of rural and urban areas if the only homes built on greenfield sites in the region were low-cost and rented dwellings to meet specific local needs; and therefore calls on the North West Regional Assembly to reflect public opinion in the region by selecting a spatial option for regional planning guidance that ensures that at least 95 per cent. of all new housing is directed to appropriate brownfield sites within existing settlements.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
