Protecting Allotments

EDM number 942 in 1999-00, proposed by David Crausby on 10/07/2000.

That this House recognises that allotment legislation is complex but calls upon the Government to overhaul allotment legislation, paying particular attention to protecting existing allotment sites; recognises the health benefits of allotment groups; notes the value of allotment gardening in leisure provision, exercise, the growing of fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers; and congratulates generations of allotment gardeners for their contribution to the nation's health.
