Fire Service In Wales

EDM number 931 in 1999-00, proposed by Martyn Jones on 05/07/2000.

That this House urges the Government to reject the recent recommendation in the Mott MacDonald report, The Future of Fire Service Control Rooms and Communications in England and Wales, that there be a single fire service control to cover the whole of Wales on the grounds that the major geographic and demographic differences between the Welsh regions would make such a control room dangerously ineffective due to the necessity for detailed local knowledge and the vast amount of similar place names throughout Wales.

This motion has been signed by a total of 25 MPs.
