50th Anniversary Of The Korean War

That this House commemorates the 50th anniversary of the start of the Korean War, the first war fought in the name of the United Nations; pays tribute to the British servicemen, many of whom had been called up for National Service, who served in the war which lasted from June 1950 to July 1953; recognises their courage and endurance, and their indomitable spirit and tenacity in the most difficult circumstances; honours the memory of the 1,090 who were killed; and congratulates the British Korean Veterans' Association for their continuing work in representing the interests of those who served in this war, for organising events to commemorate it, and for their determination that this should not be a forgotten war.
