National Review Of Ambulance Provision
EDM number 911 in 1999-00, proposed by Ian Gibson on 29/06/2000.
That this House notes with concern the deteriorating level of service amongst ambulance services around the country; recognises that this is due to under-resourcing over many years and does not reflect at all on the dedication and professionalism of ambulance crews; calls attention to the fact that the last national review of the Ambulance Service was in 1966; and therefore calls for a national review of ambulance provision to produce a formula to ensure the proper staffing, training and resourcing of ambulance services across the country so that a patient's chances of survival will no longer vary according to where he or she lives.
