Asylum Seekers March

EDM number 891 in 1999-00, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 26/06/2000.

That this House applauds the 7,000 people who marched through London on Saturday 24 June to support asylum rights; is distressed that this significant demonstration received no coverage on major television and newspapers; and call upon Her Majesty's Government to examine the poverty of many asylum seekers in the United Kingdom and to be far more critical of human rights abuses in the countries from which people seek asylum.

This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
