Burns Report On Hunting And Wales
EDM number 848 in 1999-00, proposed by Jackie Lawrence on 13/06/2000.
That this House welcomes the publication of the Burns Report into the impact of a ban on the hunting of animals with hounds and the announcement by the Home Secretary that the Government is to introduce a Bill into this House to give the opportunity to resolve the debate and implement a ban if it is the will of Parliament; welcomes the contribution offered to the debate by the objective findings of the report; urges the Government to recognise the shared judicial system common to both Wales and England when considering this legislation; and condemns attempts by Plaid Cymru Members (who have failed to support those calling for an end to the cruel and barbaric practice of hunting animals with hounds) to ignore this factor in pursuing a separatist agenda for Wales.
This motion has been signed by a total of 58 MPs.
