Honours System
EDM number 808 in 1999-00, proposed by Tony Wright on 07/06/2000.
That this House congratulates New Zealand on its decision to abolish titular state honours; notes that titles with honours have been discontinued in Australia, Canada and elsewhere in the Commonwealth; believes that this country also needs a modern and inclusive honours system; and therefore calls upon the Government to abolish titular honours as the first stage reform.
This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
