That this House joins with the rest of the country in celebrating International Nurses Day on 12th May, the birth date of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale; expresses its admiration and support for the hard work, skill, sensitivity and commitment of the 634,000 nurses in the United Kingdom and millions of nurses throughout the world; acknowledges the vital role that nursing has to play in the modernisation and development of this country's health services; and looks forward to welcoming the continued contribution of nurses to the health services in the years to come.
