Investment In Housing
EDM number 701 in 1999-00, proposed by Andrew Love on 09/05/2000.
That this House recognises the fundamental importance of access to good quality, affordable housing; understands that decent housing is essential to good health and improved opportunity in education and employment; believes that housing providers, drawing on both public and private resources, have a key role to play in economic and social regeneration; and believes that to achieve the aspiration of a decent home for all, as set out in the Housing Green Paper, including the commitment to tackle the ú19 billion backlog of council housing repairs, investment in housing and in particular affordable housing, must be increased in the Government's forthcoming spending review.
