Car Boot Sales

That this House, in the interests of consumer protection, compliance with laws and regulations, and fairness to established retailers, calls on the Government to bring in legislation to regulate the operation of car boot sales and markets by requiring the operators to be covered by third party insurance and to keep a daily register listing the names, addresses and vehicle registration numbers of those selling goods, the register being available for inspection by officers of Her Majesty's Customs and Excise, Trading Standards, Environmental Health, the Benefits Agency and the police.
