Age Additions To The Basic State Pension
EDM number 605 in 1999-00, proposed by Paul Burstow on 05/04/2000.
That this House notes that the 25p age addition to the basic state pension at 80 was introduced in 1971 and has been frozen at 25p ever since; further notes that it would be worth ú3.70 if it had been uprated in line with earnings; and calls on the Government to immediately uprate the aged addition as a cost effective way of directing extra help to the poorest of our pensioners.
