Peterborough Reading Buddy Scheme

That this House congratulates the Peterborough Reading Buddy Scheme, established by the Kids at Christmas 1999 Appeal in Peterborough, on its success; welcomes the work done by 102.7 Hereward FM in bringing together a partnership of Peterborough City Council, Greater Peterborough Chamber, the Peterborough Evening Telegraph and the charity, Business in the Community; commends the 17 Peterborough companies and their staff that have committed to send reading teams into local primary schools to help raise literacy levels; further commends the many residents of Peterborough who have together donated over 3,5000 books to the scheme; and wishes the scheme and all its partners every success in the year ahead.
