Conduct Of The Prime Minister (No. 3)

EDM number 498 in 1999-00, proposed by Peter Bottomley on 08/03/2000.

That this House expects the Prime Minister to set a good example to other ministers by giving full, accurate and consistent answers; notes that in a prepared oral answer to his honourable Friend for Warrington North, Official Report, column 941, 16th February, he asserted that the number of midwives fell by around 1,000 under the last Government and that there are 'now more than 33,000 practising midwives'; notices the contrast with the figures given for whole time equivalent numbers of midwives of 15,382 in 1979 and 18,310 in 1997; and invites the Prime Minister to consult the Head of the Office of National Statistics about the propriety of picking at will between numbers of part-timers or full-time equivalents.

This motion has been signed by a total of 3 MPs.
