Closure Of Barclays Bank At Easington Colliery And Lloyds Tsb At Blackhall

That this House deplores the closures of Barclays Bank, Easington Colliery, and Lloyds TSB in Blackhall without any consultation with users, community leaders and other sectors within these communities; expresses dismay at the lack of responsibility for the elderly, disabled and those without transport and at a time when these communities are undergoing immense regeneration programmes; and calls upon the Government to institute a formal consultative procedure which would examine the consequences of such closures and ensure that adequate banking services are available to meet the needs of customers within their own community.
