Bnfl Nuclear Facility At Sellafield

EDM number 432 in 1999-00, proposed by Eddie McGrady on 28/02/2000.

That this House notes the report from the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate released last week which clearly demonstrated that there had been a persistent falsification of safety records since 1996 at the mixed oxide plant at Sellafield; notes that there was a culture of mismanagement at the base; and, in view of the ongoing catalogue of uncontrolled discharges of radioactive waste into the Irish Sea and local environment and the contamination of soil samples in the vicinity of the plant in the last few years, calls upon the Government to immediately make a decision to decommission the total nuclear facility at Sellafield as a matter or urgency.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
