NORTHUMBERLAND SCHOOLS' FUNDING PROBLEMS
EDM number 425 in 1999-00, proposed by Ronnie Campbell on 21/02/2000.
That this House notes that all 16 head teachers in high schools in Northumberland have signed an open letter on the funding problems facing schools in Northumberland, where half of the county's schools are in the red, up to a total of more than ú500,000 already and a 1 per cent. cut in funding agreed by Northumberland County Council will deepen the financial crisis; and agrees with Councillor Ted Weeks, Chair of Education, that the Council has been doing what it can, but maybe the Government will listen to people at the chalkface who have first-hand experience.
This motion has been signed by a total of 7 MPs.
