That this House welcomes the Consumers' Association's repeated calls for a review of the influence of consultants in private practice on NHS waiting lists and waiting times for treatment; supports the 1991 Health Committee's call for the Government to review the influence of private practice on waiting lists; and calls on the Government to undertake such a review, which would identify the extent of the problem and how consultants' contracts may best reflect a modern and effective NHS.
