Assistance By Local Authorities To Care Leavers Up To The Age Of 21

EDM number 335 in 1999-00, proposed by Hilton Dawson on 01/02/2000.

That this House congratulates the Government on its commitment to improving services for young people leaving care; supports the view of the Health Committee that the duty of local authorities should extend to young people up to and including the age of 21; and urges the Government to heed the recent statement of Sir William Utting that 'deferring this to an unforseen future would be a further injustice to a generation of young people who have been failed in the past'.

This motion has been signed by a total of 60 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
