Mr Mike Tyson And The Home Secretary
EDM number 285 in 1999-00, proposed by Vincent Cable on 18/01/2000.
That this House deplores the decision of the Secretary of State for the Home Department, to admit Mr Mike Tyson to Britain; believes that it is an insult to women in general and victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in particular; believes that it additionally insults the many constituents who face enormous obstacles from the immigration authorities in obtaining permission for their law-abiding relatives to come to the United Kingdom; believes the decision was motivated less by concern for small business in Manchester than concern for BSkyB's broadcasting interests; and calls on him to reverse his decision and remove Mr Tyson back to the USA.
This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
