Appointments To The Senior Bar In Northern Ireland
EDM number 259 in 1999-00, proposed by Ian Paisley on 13/01/2000.
That this House deplores the religious imbalance in the appointments made in December 1999 to the Senior Bar in Northern Ireland; notes that many of the most respected barristers were bypassed and that, of the 12 appointees, 10 were Roman Catholics; and calls on the Lord Chancellor to make a statement and to correct this serious injustice.
This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
