Welsh School In London
EDM number 172 in 1999-00, proposed by Julie Morgan on 08/12/1999.
That this House notes the forty-one years of service that the Welsh School in London has provided to London's Welsh community; draws the attention of the House to the current financial crisis due to the need for relocation; threatening the closure of the school on 31st March 2000; notes that it has been unable to apply for voluntary-aided status because it would have to follow the English curriculum if such status was granted; and calls upon the authorities in Wales and England to co-operate in finding a solution to the unique funding problems of this very important education facility for Welsh-speaking families living in London.
