Bolton Evening News Campaign For Fireworks Safety

That this House congratulates the Bolton Evening News in their campaign for firework safety; notes the concern of the thousands of Bolton people who have supported the campaign; supports the Government's actions in the Firework (Safety) Regulations 1997; calls upon the Government to tighten legislation on the sale of fireworks; further notes the injuries and harassment caused to people and animals by the misuse of fireworks; and urges the Government to allow local councils to limit the sale of fireworks to a period decided by the local authority in consultation with the local community.
