RETIRED MINERS' CONCESSIONARY FUEL
EDM number 127 in 1999-00, proposed by Michael Clapham on 01/12/1999.
That this House is extremely concerned about a DTI draft proposal to supply concessionary coal to retired miners and their widows from cheap imported fuels supplied through a new distribution network, because it will have a detrimental impact on jobs and prospects at United Kingdom deep coal mines which supply the domestic market; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to abandon the draft and stick to the National Concessionary Fuel Agreement, which offers diversity and a choice of indigenously produced fuel that is delivered through an established supply network.
