Male Cancer Research Centre

EDM number 1201 in 1999-00, proposed by Jane Griffiths on 29/11/2000.

That this House welcomes the opening of the Male Cancer Research Centre at the Institute of Cancer Research, Europe's first centre for research into the causes and prevention of male cancers, especially prostate cancer; notes that prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men and is responsible for 9,500 deaths each year, further notes that the disease is often regarded as a matter of embarrassment and silence, and that more research is urgently needed into both its causes and prevention; and calls upon the Government to increase public awareness of the benefits of early diagnosis, and to increase further the financial support for research into male cancers.

This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
