Mobile Telecommunications Masts
EDM number 1185 in 1999-00, proposed by Chris McCafferty on 27/11/2000.
That this House deplores the actions of the mobile telephone company, Orange, in arrogantly imposing its mobile telecommunications masts on local communities without consultation and without local authority planning consent; further deplores the fact that Orange has already identified by the Stewart Inquiry as the organisation most critised for its actions in siting masts; applauds actions already taken by Government to impose stronger planning controls on mobile telecommunications mast sites; and calls for further action to be taken, including a retrospective requirement that any mast sited without local consultation may be subject to an order to cease operation if it is outside the guidlines proposed in the Stewart Inquiry, or if retrospective planning permission is not granted.
