Ceasefire In Kashmir During Ramadan
EDM number 1178 in 1999-00, proposed by Barry Gardiner on 27/11/2000.
That this House recognises the importance of the holy month of Ramadan and welcomes the unilateral decision by the Government of India to declare a ceasefire in the state of Jammu Kashmir during this period; and considers this to be a courageous and positive step to move towards a peaceful settlement of the conflict, one that is in keeping with India's secular constitution and her respect for all the religious traditions within her borders and one that deserves to be reciprocated by all parties and groups that genuinely wish to restore peace to the people of Kashmir.
This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
