Midland Mainline Trains

EDM number 1148 in 1999-00, proposed by Joseph Ashton on 13/11/2000.

That this House draws the attention of rail passengers from Sheffield, Chesterfield, Derby, Loughborough, Leicester, Wellingborough, Bedford and Luton to the fact that on Monday 13th November Midland Mainline altered its previous emergency timetable with no prior notice in the press, on local radio, or Ceefax and that the normal two hour 20 minute service took almost six hours with no apparent signs of flooding on the line or work on the track; deplores the arrogant lack of information illustrated by a permanently engaged telephone; and calls on Midland Mainline to reduce all fares by 50 per cent. until its normal mediocre service is resumed.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
